The key to keeping the skeleton of your house nice and dry is wrapping it up with a house wrap. Its pretty basic and straight forward to work with and increases the life of the house you worked so hard to build.

When wrapping the house make sure you start from the bottom, that way your top layer will shed water over the top of the layer beneath it.  Again, dont bother cutting your window holes until you have the house wrap stapled into place.

This is going to be your basic cut pattern when opening your windows.

This is going to be your basic cut pattern when opening your windows.  Wrap the excess into the interior studs and staple them down.  That way even if there happens to be some water leakage through your windows the water will have a harder time being soaked up by your homes framing.

Dont be shy with the window flashing, thats the heavy sealer for your windows.  start with the bottom allowing the excess to go up the framing a few inches, next the sides, then finish up with the top.

The best thing about house wrap is that it is ass raw ugly, that to me is pure motivation to cover it up as fast as I can.
